County 4-H’ers gain leadership knowledge
Four Wood County 4-H members recently attended District Leadership Lab in Galveston.
This annual summer event includes 4-H members from all over East Texas and is designed to prepare the members for various leadership roles in 4-H on the club, county, district and state levels.
Participants gain valuable leadership knowledge and skills that they can utilize in their clubs and counties. All the components of the event are planned to foster team-building and strengthen communication, public speaking and leadership skills.
Activities this year included tours at TAMU-Galveston for Sea Camp activities (learning about sea turtles, sharks, crabs, oyster reefs and marine ecosystems), a community service clean-up activity and a session on dinner etiquette.
Wood County 4-H members attending were Kendall Davis, Katie DeGorostiza, Helena Bautista-Mathias and Alan DeGorostiza.
During the business meeting, District 4-H Council officers for 2021-22 were elected, and Wood County 4-H member Helena Bautista-Mathias was elected District 4-H public relations officer.
