County adds support to memory center
Wood County Commissioners adopted a resolution indicating their support for the development, construction and operation of the Memory Health Life Center in Quitman.
The resolution recognizes the value of the center to citizens in the county and the region fully supporting the construction and operation. It encourages other regional cities and counties as well as the state legislature and U.S. Congress to join in support of the project.
Commissioners approved a buildings and grounds use policy. The action applies to all Wood County buildings and grounds with the exception of Wood County lakes (Quitman, Holbrook, Hawkins and Winnsboro) which are covered by Wood County Lake Rules. The policy intends to clarify Wood County’s traditional approach allowing individuals or groups to assemble on county-owned property.
County facilities may be used by outside individuals, groups or organizations, charitable, civic organizations (non-profit), for the purpose of meetings and other activities as long as those activities are not prohibited, do not interfere with access to the public, are not disruptive to official county business, do not interfere with the workflow of county employees or damage property.
Commissioners approved a resolution to request unclaimed capital credits from electric cooperatives servicing Wood County to be used for various county projects.
