County jail passes surprise visit
Wood County Jail Administrator Captain Louis Dahlman reported a surprise inspection from the Texas Commission on Jail Standards (TCJS) last week.
“Michael Gravitt from the TCJS did a complete and comprehensive inspection and we were found back in compliance. We are no longer non-compliance,” Dahlman said. “He inspected everything including the medical services of the county jail.”
Dahlman said changes had been made to insure compliance. “We made the necessary changes and have re-trained everybody. We did make some staff changes and we make sure we double-checked everything,” Dahlman noted.
The jail had been placed on non-compliance status for two errors in medications for inmates, one resulting in hospitalization.
