C.W. (Bill) Elston 1924-2021

C.W. (Bill) Elston, 97, of Mineola passed away on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 in Mineola. He was born on Feb. 22, 1924 in Davenport, Iowa to the late Valentine Wesley Elston and Kate Ince Elston.

Bill was a retired accountant, member of First United Methodist Church of Mineola and served in the U.S. Army during WWII.

He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Louise Dawson Elston; daughter, Elizabeth (Betsy) Snethen of Corinth; sons, Robin Elston and his wife, Brenda Adams Elston of Bedford and Richard Dawson Elston of Mineola; grandchildren, Kathy Snethen Isaacs and her husband, Brian of Clermont, Fla., Staff Sgt. David Snethen and his wife, Jennifer of Converse, Stacey Elston George and her husband Greg of Bedford, Lindsay Elston Askins and her husband, Dustin of Issaquah, Wash., Leslie (Amber) Snethen of Corinth, Trevor Elston of Seattle, Wash. and Joshua Elston of Mineola; and 13 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at First United Methodist Church of Mineola at 2 p.m., Rev. Paul Thomasson conducting.

In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to charity of your choice in the name of Bill Elston.

Special Olympics returns in style

Symphonic band presents Christmas concert

Concerts are Sunday, Dec. 17, at 2 p.m. and Tuesday evening, Dec. 19, at 7:30 p.m. Mike Holbrook is back in the director’s seat, so it’s sure to be a fun-filled couple of hours.
