Daughters honor anniversary by cleaning grave markers
To honor the anniversary of the Daughters of the American Revolution founding on Oct 11, 1895, chapters and individuals are encouraged to engage in meaningful service projects in their communities each year on or around Oct 11.
This year the daughters were asked to support historic preservation by cleaning grave markers.
Elizabeth Denton English Chapter of Mineola members cleaned 70 grave markers, 25 which were veterans. They chose five cemeteries over four days during October: Hopewell and Sharon in the Winnsboro area, Gilmer City Cemetery, Historic Flint Cemetery and Cedars Memorial, Mineola.
