Deason Hunt to give talk
Wood County Genealogy Society will meet Monday, Sept. 16 2024 at 5 p.m. at the Quitman Public Library, 202 E. Goode St.
Deason Hunt, a life long member of the Wood County Genealogy Society, will preside.
Hunt is a retired Texas high school teacher of journalism, history, English and geography. He has a B.S. from Stephen F. Austin University in English, journalism and history. He also has a M.S. in journalism and education from East Texas State University (now A&M-Commerce).
Deason has been researching his family tree since 1978. He has also written three family history books: “Thomas Sr. and Lucy Hunt & Descendants,” “Out of Mississippi: The Robert Wingate Family of Nacogdoches County, Texas” and “Descendants of William Moody of Catham County, North Carolina.”
This will be a planning meeting for the Wood County Genealogy Society’s 40th anniversary.
