Dorothy D. Spruell 1937-2025

Dorothy D. Spruell, 87, of Mineola died July 8, 2025.

She was born on Wednesday, Dec. 29, 1937 in Mineola to the late William J. Patterson and Katie L. Patterson.

Dorothy married the love of her life, Walter Wayne Spruell, Feb. 25, 1955. They were married for 57 years and had three children. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne; her sister-in-law, Bobbie Patterson; her granddaughter, Shelly Scott; and grandson, Hunter Cole Spruell.

Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Deann Miller of Ben Wheeler, Sandra Jill Scott of Mineola; son, Billy Wayne Spruell and wife Amy of Mineola; and her brother, Bill Patterson of Shreveport, La. She has 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and three nieces.

Dorothy was a member of the Mineola Church of Christ.

The family wanted to extend a very special thank you to those at Aspen Hospice and Palliative Care in Quitman, who loved and helped us though the past several days.
