Dorothy L. Harpole, 1933-2022

Dorothy L. Harpole, 89, of Golden passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2022 in Golden.

She was born on June 7, 1933 in Marietta, Okla. to the late Herbert Bon Lawson and Gladys Latimer Lawson.

Dorothy was a homemaker, mother and longtime member of Golden United Methodist Church. She was a quilter, avid gardener and loved animals and reading. She volunteered with Meals On Wheels, served in many areas in her church centering around her kids’ activities and was a longtime member and volunteer with the Golden Cemetery Association.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Kathy Ann Harpole Brummett, and brother, Eugene Lawson.

Survivors include her loving husband, Billie Harpole of Golden; son, Johnny Harpole and his wife Debra of Golden; daughter, Julia Kay Harpole and her husband, Walter Fitzgerald of Golden; sisters, Doris Ihnfeldt of Trumann, Ark. and Glenda Hargrove of Kerrville; two grandchildren, Britney Bon Harpole and Jeffrey Clayton Brummett, along with one great-grandchild, Theodore James Brummett.

Visitation was held on Saturday, Oct. 1, 2022 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Golden United Methodist Church. Funeral services followed at 11 a.m. at the church with Rev. Jim Pickens conducting. Interment was at Golden Cemetery in Golden, with John Harpole, Britney Harpole, Ron Harpole, Justin Block, David Coe and Terry Massie serving as pallbearers.
