Downtown Mineola lot to be sold
A vacant lot in downtown Mineola is set to be sold to a local restaurateur.
The Mineola Economic Development Corp. voted to recommend to the city council that the lot at 101 E. Commerce St., formerly the site of the 1888 building, be sold to Logan and Morgan Belcher, who operate the Logan’s Place restaurant just a few doors down Commerce to the east.
The matter will come before the city council for final approval May 24.
The MEDC had acquired the lot after the 1888 building was razed.
The sales price is $20,000, with the buyer to pay closing costs.
In announcements, assistant EDC Director Cindy Karch said that Sanderson Farms planned to hold an ongoing series of hiring events beginning soon, and the MEDC had agreed to help promote the events.
