Faith Baptist hosting annual community block party

Faith Baptist Church of Quitman will hold VBS EXPRESS PLUS on Saturday, June 7. The event will start at 3 p.m. with a one-session Vacation Bible School. A family-oriented Community Block Party will be held from 6-8 p.m.

“This is the eighth time in the church’s 10-year history that Faith Baptist has held a fun, family event for our community,” said pastor Mike Midkiff. “It is our way as a church to give back to the community in which we serve. All events are free.”

VBS EXPRESS will be held in the Faith Baptist Student Center, next to the Quitman police station from 3-6 p.m. for children 4-years-old through completed 5th grade. Children will rotate through different stations in the student center.

One station is a puppet show telling a story from the Bible. “Kornpop the Klown” will conclude VBS EXPRESS with his fun antics and a presentation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

The “PLUS” to “VBS EXPRESS” is the Community Block Party from 6-8 on the church parking lot, 405 S. Hart St. that evening. The block party is for the whole community to gather for an evening of games, inflatables, cake walk, face painting, petting zoo, free grilled hotdogs, door prizes like a flatscreen TV and more.

All activities planned for “VBS Express Plus!” will be at no expense for those who attend.
