Fashion contest highlights sesquicentennial

Mineola’s Fashion Through the Decades Sesquicentennial Costume Contest is among the events during Spring Fling May 20.

It is open to men, women and children with possible (minor) award for each category. Entry fee is $5.

Fashion may be from any decade from 1873-2020.

Contestant registration at the event downtown starts at noon. Contestants will be issued a number (like at a car show) and can receive votes for People’s Choice the day of the event from 12-4 p.m. 

The Best Dressed winner will be selected by judges based on originality of costume, detail and accessories. 

Music will be played from the decade contestants choose to represent while being presented to the judges.

Sesquicentennial Best Dressed Representation of Time Period Winner (Overall) 

RIBBONS: 

People’s Choice Representation of Time Period Winner 

Best Dressed Representation of Time Period Man 

Best Dressed Representation of Time Period Woman 

Best Dressed Representation of Time Period Teen (13-19) 

Best Dress Representation of Time Period Child (12 and under) 

Best Bathing Costume – Time Period before 1950
