Four Wood County residents were killed and another seriously injured in a traffic crash at FM 515 and FM 2966 at 6:11 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9 nine miles north of Quitman.

According to the Dept. of Public Safety preliminary investigation by Trooper Tony Garcia, Brandy L. Addicks, 43, of Winnsboro was southbound on FM 2966 in a 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt with two passengers and disregarded the stop sign at FM 515.

The Chevy collided with the left side of a 2008 Cadillac STS driven by Phillipus (Flippie) P. Strydom, 64, of Winnsboro that was eastbound on FM 515.

Pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Janae Holland were the two drivers and passengers in the Cobalt, Joshua L. Daggs, 33, and Emma J. Addicks, 16, both of Yantis.

Strydom’s passenger, his wife Jacomina M. Strydom, 59, was transported to UT Heath Hospital in Tyler with critical injuries.

All but Emma Addicks were wearing seat belts.

The Strydoms were well- known as the owners of the Liefie Li Vine restaurant in Winnsboro.

Emma Addicks was a student at Yantis High School and the daughter of Brandy Addicks. Daggs was also a family member.

Services for Strydom were pending at Lowe Gardner Funerals and Cremations in Quitman.
