We're following three Friday night high school ballgames.

In the regular season baseball finale, Alba-Golden fell to district champion Como-Pickton 2-0 on senior night.

The Panthers head to the state baseball playoffs next week. They had just two hits while Como-Pickton had three, scoring both runs in the  fifth.

The Lady Panthers took on Simms Bowie for bidistrict softball in a game that was moved twice to find a dry field, winding up at Bowie's home field.

Bowie grabbed a 2-0 lead in the second. Alba-Golden forged ahead 4-2 in the top of the third only to have Bowie tie it 4-all in the bottom of the inning.

The Lady Panthers took the lead again with four runs in the fifth and added two in the sixth for a 10-4 advantage.

Bowie fought back with four runs in the sixth to cut it to 10-8

Alba-Golden responded with three in the seventh to stretch the lead to 13-8 and take the win.

Alba-Golden gets the winner between Martins Mill and Hawkins  in the area playoff.

Mineola and Mt. Vernon faced off at Grand Saline in a seeding game for second and third place. Mt. Vernon broke on top quickly with five runs in the first and two in the second. The Tigers added three in the fifth for a 10-0 lead and the victory on the run rule.
