Georgia Joan Farmer 1933-2023

Georgia Joan Farmer, 89, of Quitman passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born Feb. 22, 1933 to the late Clay Otto Williams and Annie Belle Smith Williams in Imperial County, Calif. She married the love of her life, George L. Farmer Jr., on March 17, 1952 in Yuma, Ariz., and they moved to Quitman in 1982.

Mrs. Farmer loved being with her family, which she led to Christ herself with her testimony of how much she loved her Lord. She was saved at the age of 17 and never stopped sharing her testimony with anyone. It was important to her to lead as many to Christ as she could. She attended Holy Ghost Central Church in Alba.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Nancy Leath and husband Rex, Steven Farmer and wife Wendy, Joannie Wainscott and husband Cain and Fred Farmer and wife Jennifer; 15 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; sister, Connie “Tiny” Snyder; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, George L. Farmer Jr.; son, George Lawler Farmer III; six brothers; and two sisters.

Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 6, 2023 at Myrtle Springs Cemetery in Quitman. Pallbearers were Steve Farmer, Fred Farmer, Cain McAllister, Terry Wainscott, David Farmer, Joshua Farmer, Jaxson Wilson and Layne McLemore. The family received friends before the service from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 6, 2023 at Lowe-Gardner Funerals and Cremations in Quitman.
