Harry Meredith Special returns for Easter rides

After a year’s hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Harry Meredith Special returns to Iron Horse Square in Mineola for free rides on the mini train beginning with the Easter Special Saturday, April 3 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

That will kick off the train’s yearly schedule of operating every second and fourth Saturday through October from 11-3, plus other specials.

Iron Horse Square is located on the south side of the Union Pacific rail line in downtown Mineola, just west of Pacific St. on Front St.

Other special events include May 1 for May Fiesta Day, Sept. 24 from 5-7 p.m. for the Iron Horse Special in conjunction with the Iron Horse Festival, Halloween specials on Oct. 16, 23 and 30 from 6-9 p.m. and the Christmas specials on Dec. 4 (parade), 11 (Christmas market) and 18 from 4-7 p.m.

The train is also available to rent for parties and private groups.

Symphonic band presents Christmas concert

Concerts are Sunday, Dec. 17, at 2 p.m. and Tuesday evening, Dec. 19, at 7:30 p.m. Mike Holbrook is back in the director’s seat, so it’s sure to be a fun-filled couple of hours.
