It’s Kiwanis Club cheese time

Mineola Kiwanis Club cheese will be here soon.

Cheese has been a part of Mineola’s history starting with the Optimist Club many years ago. When that club dissolved, Jerry Rapp brought the cheese project to the Mineola Kiwanis Club where he became “Mr. Cheese.”

Funds made from the sale of cheese are used for parties and gifts for the children of the Wood County Co-op School for special needs children in Quitman.

Last year, due to supply problems there were only four varieties of cheese available. This included mild and sharp cheddar, colby jack and pepper jack. This year Kiwanis will bring back the five pound wheel of Swiss. A new product will be smoked cheddar in a 2.25 lb. size. As prices have gone up on all food products, the cheese will also be slightly higher. Prices will range from $9 for the one pound size, $15 for the 2.25 lb. to $30 for the five pound size.

The cheese is expected to be in around Nov. 1, in time for the holidays. For more information, contact any Mineola Kiwanis member or follow the Kiwanis facebook page at Mineola Kiwanis Club.
