Jackets and Bulldogs earn post-season honors
Mineola and Quitman were well-represented on this year’s 13-3A all district baseball team.
Mineola sophomore hurler Spencer Joyner was tabbed as the Pitcher of the Year. Named to the first team from Mineola was middle fielder senior Riley Fowler while first teamers for Quitman were sophomore pitcher Landon Richey and senior middle fielder Ty Holland.
On the second team was Quitman senior outfielder Hayden Cook while Mineola was represented by junior pitcher Jack Heard, junior catcher Coy Anderson, sophomore middle infielder Cason Davis and sophomore third baseman Kaden Bell.
Named honorable mention from Mineola were senior Thomas Hooton and sophomore Conner Gibson and for the Bulldogs senior Cody Hawley, junior Mason Reynolds and junior Ford Tannebaum.
Quitman senior Adam Corrior was named to the Academic All-State team. The all district academic players were Holland, Cook, Hawley, Reynolds, Jack Tannebaum, Ford Tannebaum, Justin Matthews, Richey, Weston Pence and Charlie Matthews for Quitman.
