Jackets win game one

Mineola took the first of a three-game series with New Diana Thursday in the state baseball playoffs, contested at Kilgore's Driller Park.
The 3-2 win sets up game two Friday at 7 p.m, at the same location.
The Yellowjackets got the winning run in the bottom of the seventh when Riley Fowler grounded to second base with the bases loaded, and Brady Shrum scored from third.
The 'Jackets tied the game with a pair of runs in the sixth when Fowler and Cason Davis singled ahead of Spencer Joyner's two-run double.
New Diana had taken the lead with two runs in the fifth.
Spencer went the distance, allowing five hits and three runs with two walks and three strikeouts.
Mineola committed no errors while New Diana had three.
Mineola got a pop up and throw out at the plate to quell a New Diana threat in the top of the seventh.
The winner of the series will take on the winner of the Mt. Vernon-Elysian Fields series.
