Kendrick taking talents to Trinity Valley
Mineola senior and Yellowjacket football stalwart Kobe Kendrick signed his acceptance of a two-year athletic scholarship to Trinity Valley Community College (TVCC) at Mineola High School last Wednesday.
Surrounded by family, teammates, coaches and classmates, Kendrick signed his intention to take his defensive football talents to the Cardinals of Trinity Valley.
“This is exactly what I want, and there is no place I would rather be,” stated Kendrick. He admitted that the college, their athletic program and the coaches are a perfect fit for him.
He expects to play at his natural position as a defensive end.
Mark Kendrick, Kobe’s father, was all smiles.
“We are all very excited for him,” he stated. “Kobe has worked very, very hard for this. We won’t miss a game,” he added.
Andrea McCoy, Kobe’s mother remarked, “It is the start of another adventure for Kobe.”
Prior to the signing, Athletic Director Luke Blackwell spoke about the young talent.
“He is one of the absolute leaders of our program…he leads through his example,” Blackwell remarked.
Position coach Bill Self also spoke about Kendrick. He lauded Kendrick’s individual commitment to excellence.
“I am proud of you, love you and look forward to the great things you will do,” said Self.
TVCC, located just down Hwy. 31 in Athens, competes in the National Junior College Athletic Association.
