Kenneth Wayne Caldwell 1938-2025
Kenneth Wayne Caldwell, known to his family and friends as Wayne, passed away on Feb. 21, 2025 at age 86. He was born on Oct. 13, 1938 at home in Winnsboro to William “Fred” Caldwell and Connie Mae (Cox) Caldwell.
Wayne’s life was one of hard work and dedication. Though he left school early, he worked tirelessly and earned a position as district manager for an oil field company, where he continued to excel until his retirement in the mid-1990s. He spent most of his life in Winnsboro, a place he held dear. He was baptized as a child at Cartwright Baptist Church and remained grounded in his faith throughout his life.
In July 1983, Wayne married Kathy Caldwell, and together they shared many happy years.
Wayne had a wide range of interests. He was an avid motorcycle rider, enjoyed gambling and had a passion for traveling across the United States in his motor home. Over the years, he also owned many Corvettes, a symbol of his love for adventure and style. He was a true family man, and his grandchildren lovingly called him “Papa.” He cherished his family and was always there for them, offering support and love in abundance.
Wayne will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him. His legacy will live on in the memories of those he touched throughout his life.
Wayne is preceded in death by his parents, William Fred and Connie Mae Caldwell; son, Joe Pat Caldwell; grandson Jeffery Grandberry; brother, Herschall Caldwell; and sister, Dixie Mullino.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Kathy Caldwell of Winnsboro; five children, Kenny Caldwell of Winnsboro, Benny Caldwell and wife Charlene of Quitman, Deana Alexander and husband Dwayne of Winnsboro, Kim Smith and husband Ray of Winnsboro and Greg Granberry and wife Kellie of Mountain City. He is also survived by grandchildren, Ashley George, Tiffany Alexander, Tabitha Morris, Ronnie Caldwell, Blake Caldwell, Shae Caldwell, Brandon Caldwell, Lacy Caldwell, Ratchel Aldridge, Kenny Whitehead, Nikki Whitehead and Jonathon Grandberry; numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends.
Visitation was held Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2025 at Lowe-Gardner Funerals and Cremations from 5-7 p.m.
