Kiwanis Club schedules tourney

The Quitman Lake Fork Kiwanis Club will host its annual benefit golf tournament Saturday, May 6 at the Links at Land’s End.

Proceeds benefit scholarships and youth leadership programs.

Drawings for great prizes, first through third place team, longest drive and closest to the pin will be awarded.

• $400 Partner (includes hole sponsorship and team)

• $150 Hole Sponsor (sign with name is placed on a putting green)

• Prize donation for the raffle

• $100 Advantage Package for players (includes 2 mulligans, 2 extra raffle tickets per player, and team participation at the 5 Iron Challenge Hole)

Special Olympics returns in style

After a five-year absence, over 150 athletes from Como-Pickton, Cedar Creek and Upshur and Wood Counties competed for special recognition at a state-sanctioned Special Olympics track and field meet at the Quitman High School track field on Friday, April 5.

Symphonic band presents Christmas concert

Come on over to Mineola’s beautiful Historic Select Theater and hear the Lake Country Symphonic Band’s Christmasy “Everything Christmas” concert.

Concerts are Sunday, Dec. 17, at 2 p.m. and Tuesday evening, Dec. 19, at 7:30 p.m. Mike Holbrook is back in the director’s seat, so it’s sure to be a fun-filled couple of hours.
