Lady Bulldogs drop pair of district softball games
The Quitman Lady Bulldogs had a rough week, falling to Mt. Vernon and Mt. Pleasant Chapel Hill in district softball.
Quitman played well defensively in a 3-1 loss at Chapel Hill Friday. Quitman outhit the Lady Devils 8-5 and did not make any errors. The game was tied at 1-1 until Chapel Hill recorded a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to secure the win.
Earlier in the week, Mt. Vernon bat’s had 21 hits on their way to an 18-1 win over Quitman. The Lady Tigers scored eight runs in the first inning and led 12-0 after three frames. Mt. Vernon banged out six more in the top of the fourth.
Quitman was able to score a run in their half of the fourth. The Lady Bulldogs were led by Larkin Spears and Kennedi Elmore who each had two hits.
The Lady Bulldogs had a 4-5 district record with games this week at home against Winnsboro followed by a trip to Mineola and finishing up the season April 19 at home against Winona for Senior Night at 7 p.m.
