Lady ‘Dogs top Harmony, fall to C. Hill
The Quitman Lady Bulldogs split a pair of district games last week. On Tuesday the Lady Bulldogs traveled to Harmony and came home with a 47-32 victory. On Friday night at home they fell to Mt. Pleasant Chapel Hill 53-43.
At Harmony, Quitman got off to a good start taking a 19-12 first quarter lead. The Lady Bulldogs led 36-22 at intermission.
Quitman continued solid play in the second half to secure the 15-point win.
Maddy Pence had a great game putting in a team high 15 points. Kaysie Parker added 12 points and eight rebounds while Allie Berry added six points, seven rebounds and three assists. Sadie Vander Schaaf added seven points, Ashley Davis had three and Carley Spears and Reiny Luman had two points apiece.
On Friday night the Lady Bulldogs fell behind 18-8 in the first quarter and fought hard to get back into the game. Chapel Hill made it a 30-13 lead at the half.
The Lady Bulldogs continued with a solid second half, outscoring Chapel Hill 28-23, but the Lady Devils held on for the 53-43 win.
Pence had another fine game hitting for 14 points and three steals followed by Luman’s nine scores and seven points each from Parker and Berry. Berry also added seven rebounds. Ashley Davis had six points.
After playing Winona on the road Tuesday, the Lady Bulldogs wrap up the season at home against Winnsboro Feb. 8.
