Lady Panthers fall to tough Brownsboro squad
The Alba-Golden Lady Panthers hosted the Brownboro Bearettes Tuesday in the first of four remaining pre-district matches. While Brownsboro easily won the match in straight sets (25-6, 25-14, 25-11), the Lady Panthers got the experience of facing a very good team.
The Brownsboro side featured athletes from their 4A state championship girls basketball team, including the twin Garrett sisters, Khyra and Khayla. The youngest, Khyra competed in the 2022 state high jump competition. The Bearettes are ranked in the top 20 in the state.
The match was a chance to face some of the best high school competition around, to practice the skills required to face blazing kill shots, and to compete. So, as much as a bad defeat may smart, Tuesday’s game had many benefits which will resonate during the upcoming district competition.
Alba-Golden came back Friday to defeat PTAA Fate.
One pre-district match remains, next Tuesday at Frankston, before district opens Friday, Sept 23 at Boles.
