Lady Panthers undefeated in district, Panthers stay in district hunt

Wyatt Sutton lays-in a basket for Alba-Golden Friday. The Panthers secured their hold on second place in the district standings at 7-1 last week with wins over Cumby 62-48 last Tuesday and a pesky Fruitvale squad Friday 60-49.

Gavin Parker earns free throws driving to the basket Friday against Fruitvale. Alba-Golden took a 60-49 win. Next up is a visit to undefeated district leader North Hopkins on Friday followed by a visit from Cooper on Tuesday in the battle for second place.

Erin Langston defends for Alba-Golden against Fruitvale Friday. The 86-30 win kept the Lady Panthers unbeaten in district play, coupled with last Tuesday’s 54-20 win over Cumby. The final two games are Friday at North Hopkins and next Tuesday hosting Cooper.

Alba-Golden’s Lainey Teel dives for a loose ball. Coach Troy Wallace described the style of play: “We emphasize this type of effort every single day. Once they bought in to me and saw that the formula that I was showing them would make them successful, they went all in and haven’t looked back. This is now ‘Just how we do it!’ These girls have been incredible to work with.”
