Mark your calendar for Sunday, Dec. 19, as the Lake Country Symphonic Band presents its final concert of the 2021 season, A Festival of Carols. The performance will begin at 2 p.m. at the Historic Select Theater in downtown Mineola.

The concert features carols old and new in familiar settings as well as new arrangements. Music featured will include “A Cowboy Christmas,” music from Danny Elfman’s score to “The Nightmare Before Christmas,” “Silent Night,” “Mary’s Little Boy Child,” “Christmas in a Nutshell,” “Midnight Sleighride,” “Russian Christmas Music,” “Jing Jing Jingle,” “What Child is This (Greensleeves),” “Sleigh Ride” and a world premiere of an arrangement of “God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen.” Of course, no Christmas event would be complete without a visit from Santa!

Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for children 11 and under. They can be purchased in advance by going to lakecountryplayhouse.com and clicking under the concert poster. They are also available at the theater during movie hours or call the box office at 903-569-2300. This will be the last concert honoring season tickets from the COVID shortened 2020 season.

Following this performance, the band will take a pause for the holidays and resume rehearsals for the 2022 season on Jan. 6 for the spring concert.

Scheduled for March 27, the performance will feature music of Beethoven, Bennette, Lovrien, and a host of others. It will also mark the return of pianist Jennifer Turner, who performed Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue” with the band in 2019, on Addinsell’s “Warsaw Concerto.”
