Lake Country Neighbors honor area’s veterans
Lake Country Neighbors (LCN) held its annual Veterans Thank You Event at the Lake Fork Baptist Church in Alba July 19 to thank veterans and their families for all that they do and have done for the country. About 250 veterans and guests were served a barbecue brisket lunch, with entertainment by The Farmer Family Band of Caddo Mills.
A program was held in the church sanctuary. The Hunt County Veterans’ Honor Guard posted the colors. Veterans from the Army, Navy, Air Force, Space Force, Marines, Coast Guard and National Guard were acknowledged. Also acknowledged were veterans who fought in World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, the Gulf War, the Iraq War, the Afghanistan War and the Cold War. The Hopkins County Marine Corps League, Detachment 1357 was also in attendance and acknowledged.
Retired Lt. Col. Cody Roberson spoke to the veterans and their families, LCN members and members of the community. Roberson is a highly decorated veteran with multiple tours of combat duty during his 23 years of service. His organization ArmyBassAnglers has helped raise over $3.5 million for Ft. Sam Houston’s Warrior & Family Support Center and over $37 million collectively for five military non-Profits.
In his speech, he gave examples in his life illustrating that you may have a plan for yourself, but God may have a different plan for you.
