The Quitman Bulldogs tipped off their basketball season last Tuesday with a nail-biting victory over the Lone Oak Buffaloes, securing a 47-46 win in the final moments of the game.

Quitman came out strong, sinking early shots to take an initial lead.

However, Lone Oak fought back with a surge of points, overtaking the Bulldogs late in the first half, 22-18.

Quitman refused to back down, clawing their way back and closing the gap heading into the final minutes.

With Lone Oak leading by just one point, they extended their advantage with a clutch three-pointer.

Quitman, now trailing, searched for an opportunity to respond. After pulling within one, they found their break when a personal foul was called on Lone Oak in the final seconds.

Klayton Meadows stepped to the free-throw line with the game on the line. Calm and composed, he sank both shots, giving Quitman a dramatic victory as the buzzer sounded. The Bulldogs walked away with a thrilling season-opening win, setting the tone for what promises to be an exciting season.

Friday the Bulldogs traveled to Como-Pickton, falling 40-23.
