League of Arts hosting wood workers
The Mineola League of the Arts will host a Wood Workers Show Friday and Saturday, June 6-7 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at 200 W. Blair St. in Mineola. The show is free and open to the public.
The show will be judged Friday morning by a professional woodworker who gives a critique of each piece and feedback which is mostly positive and constructive intended to encourage and improve the entrants’ woodworking.
Entrants are welcome to enter the competition and sell their work at the show.
The group has members from age 18-80 (including a senior home-schooler and a college student as well) but mostly retired folks, men and women.
Members have from one to 60 years of experience, and all experience levels are welcome.
The group is the only woodworking group between Dallas and Shreveport, and the show pulls people from all over East Texas to enter and attend.
Other upcoming events at League:
Two art camps in July, one for kids age 6-12 and another for teens 13-18. There are several classes geared for kids from June 1-July 31. All classes can be registered for on the website www.mlota.org.
