A very special thank you to Mrs. Emily Winters, ag teacher at Mineola schools.
For the third year in a row, these students have helped us prepare the grounds for a Prayer Garden being developed, and belonging to First Methodist Church on Johnson St. Even though Mrs Winters had given birth to a new baby a few days earlier, she arranged for her co-teacher to supervise this year’s efforts.
This project began five years ago to remember a little boy who was killed.
Just as it began, all of the fencing, furniture, etc was stolen. The Mineola PD assisted in recovering all that was stolen.
However, it was suggested we not proceed until the thief was prosecuted. So the process to complete has begun. It will be a place of rest, reflection and remembrance, and we will invite the community to enjoy it.
Just watch for invitation to attend the ribbon cutting within next few months.
