Alba-Golden powerlifter wins state meet
Alba-Golden senior Layton Williams won the Texas High School Powerlifting Association state championship in the 275-pound class Saturday in Abilene.
Competing in Division 4, Williams recorded personal bests of 690 pounds in the squat, 490 pounds in the bench press and a 615-pound dead lift.

Alba-Golden powerlifter wins state meet
Alba-Golden senior Layton Williams won the Texas High School Powerlifting Association state championship in the 275-pound class Saturday in Abilene.
Competing in Division 4, Williams recorded personal bests of 690 pounds in the squat, 490 pounds in the bench press and a 615-pound dead lift.
That gave him the winning total of 1,795 pounds, winning by 15 pounds. The difference was the bench press, with the top two lifters even in the other two events.
