Martha Joan Cowan Wisdom, 1928-2022

Martha Joan Cowan Wisdom, 93, of Dickinson passed away on Jan. 10, 2022. Joan was born on Dec. 7, 1928 in Mineola to parents Alfred Orlando Cowan and wife, Connie Mae Tharp Cowan. Joan was fond of knitting, crocheting, sewing and puzzles. Joan was a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend.

Joan was preceded in death by her loving husband, Francis Arno Wisdom, as well as her sister, Connie Cowan Horton and brother, George Cowan. She is survived by her two sisters, Nancy Cowan Johnston and husband Dean Johnston and Patricia Cowan Massad. She is also survived by her many loving nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Left to cherish her amazing memories are her children, James Arno Wisdom and wife Lynn, Barbara Anne Wisdom Bowers and husband Greg, and David Alfred Wisdom. She was especially close to her grandchildren, Jennifer Anne Pullen and husband Guy Pullen, James Wisdom, Michael Wisdom and Paul Wisdom, Christina Joan Wisdom Volek and husband Matt Volek as well as her great-grandchildren, Trenton Delaney, Maddie Volek, Emily Wisdom, Karbon Skye Pullen and Rain Bow Pullen.

She was their “Mimi” and very much loved. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Burial was held at the Haven of Memories Memorial Park, 27532 State Hwy. 64, Canton at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 14, 2022. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
