Mary Irene Halbert, 1940-2021

Mary Irene Halbert of Quitman passed away on Saturday, April 24 in Quitman. She was born on Nov. 26, 1940 to James Washington Harbin and Alta Elizabeth (Harris) Harbin in Quitman. Mary was a lifelong member of Liberty United Methodist Church. She married Johnny Halbert on Dec. 21, 1973 in Houston. Mary was a retired executive secretary from the financial sector. 

There will be a visitation for Mary on Monday, April 26 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Lowe-Gardner Funeral Chapel in Quitman. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 27 at 11 a.m. in the Lowe-Gardner Chapel with burial following at the Roselawn Cemetery. Bro. Fred Morrow will officiate.

Surviving family includes, her husband of 49 years, Johnny Halbert; son, Robert Leonard Clinard, Jr; sister, Alice Faye and her husband Clarence Lee; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Olan and Lola Halbert and sister-in-law, Dorothy Harbin; grandchildren, Robert Leonard Clinard III, Erick Clinard, Shawn Mitchell Spain, Misty Fugate, Jacqueline Taylor and Destiny Nicole Jones; eight great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Glenda Gail Spain; sister, Alta Mae Dobson: and a brother, Bud Harbin.
