Mary Mercedese Dodge Ivins 1931-2024

Mary Mercedese Dodge Ivins was born in Trees, La. on Aug. 21, 1931 to Susie Hart and Mercer Dodge. Merce spent most of her life in Texas and Louisiana, and she loved to tell her best childhood stories about Trees City near Caddo Lake.

Merce was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Charles A. Ivins; her parents, Mercer Dodge, Susie Hart Cumpston and Jim Cumpston; as well as sisters, Sarah Barry, Marion Culpepper and Isabelle Green; and brother, Mercer Dodge.

Merce was a loving devoted mother to Charla Ivins Aston and husband John of Terrell, Marilyn Ivins of Sugarland and one most adored grandson, Spencer Ivins Almond and wife Tam of Houston.

No one was more selfless and giving, all that knew her loved her and she was always available for a big hug and lots of advice. Her laugh shall remain in the room for eternity.

Graveside celebration was held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2024 at Mt. Gilead Cemetery, 8239 Mt. Gilead Rd., Vivian, LA 71082, officiated by Bro. Brett Puckitt.

Symphonic band presents Christmas concert
