Melvin Gene Stanley 1941-2025

Melvin Gene Stanley, 83, of Mineola passed away on May 2, 2025 at CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances in Tyler. He was born to Earnest Leston Stanley and Christene Lurene McClellen Stanley in Ore City on Oct. 1, 1941. 

Gene was a life-long resident of Mineola where he served the community for 50 years through his legacy known as Gene’s Trading Post.  

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Sue Stanley; his son, Kendall Stanley (wife Janice), and the mother of his children, Joyce Stanley, grandchildren, Holly Hooten, Hannah Stanley, Amanda Grzenia (husband Kevin), Meagan Luby and Micayla Stanley; great-grandchildren: Haven, Ellie and Arthus Grzenia, Hudson and Hayes Luby, Beckham Wells and Emerson Morgan; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Earnest and Christene Stanley; sister, Brenda Cornwall; brother, Loye Stanley; son, Kevin Stanley and daughter-in-law Venetia Stanley; and step-children, Deborah Lockey Hixson and David Lockey.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
