MHS students qualify for state contests

MHS students qualify for state contests
Among the students recognized during last week’s Mineola School Board meeting were state qualifiers in theatrical design.
High school students Lindsey Harris and Miniya Rodriguez advanced to the state contest, Harris in set design and Rodriguez in marketing.
The state meet will be held virtually May 7-8.
In Family, Career and Community Leaders of America, students Sydney Van Cleave and Zoe Goodson competed at the state level and qualified for nationals. Sunni Ruffin was named a state vice president for peer involvement.
In the Texas Association of Future Educators, Angela Crews joined Van Cleave and Goodson as national qualifiers with their projects.
The board also recognized state power lifting meet qualifier KeJuan Fite and the championship winners from the Wood County Junior Livestock Show. Ag teacher D.J. Wernecke said the district had 15 champions and 32 students make the sale, earning $51,000.
