Mineola Caring & Sharing serves 335 families
Mineola Caring & Sharing served 335 families and 1,374 people in 2023, an increase from 2022. A number of family applications were received at the last minute, and with the help of committee members and the community these needs were met.
Officers elected were President Joyce Curry; past president Kevin White; Vice President Syntha Pierce; Secretary Wynn Harle and Treasurer Beth Shockey. Directors are Lizzy Hayes, Janell Abbott, Cindy Dromgoole, Eric Hayes, Joel Moore and Roy Shockey, who is also project chair. Sam Curry is a permanent director.
Jennifer and Kirk Hensen were recognized for organizing a car show which raised $12,000. Lizzy and Eric Hayes are the chairs for this event.
City National Bank did a hamburger fundraiser for C&S, and a grant was received from the Wood County Electric Co-op Foundation. The oldest fundraiser is an auction by KMOO radio. Brookshire’s donated gift cards and WalMart gave clothing items. Many area citizens donated time and money to make this project successful.
A new project this year was Caring Coats. Mineola ISD schools partnered to distribute the coats through the schools. The Mineola Pilot Club hosted a North Fall Workshop where coats were donated.
Coats are still available for current clients living within the MISD area. Call Joyce Curry at 903-850-2121 for information on getting a coat in sizes up to XL.
