The Lady Jackets of Mineola staged another late comeback last Tuesday, but came up short to the Grand Saline Lady Indians, 10-8.
The game started out hopefully for Mineola as Mahayla McMahon absolutely smashed a ball which landed far beyond the left field fence. The lead, however, was short-lived.
Grand Saline leveraged back-to-back doubles to take a 2-1 lead after one inning.
The game stabilized through three innings, then the home team advantage started to show.
Mineola added a run in the fourth, but Grand Saline built an 8-run lead. Mineola starter Jadelyn Marshall gave way to Mycah Morman, who eventually gave the ball back to Marshall.
Yet, the Lady Jackets have a way with late-game comebacks. They staged one last Tuesday.
The Lady Jackets put up six runs in the top of the seventh – buoyed by a round-tripper off the bat of Kali Chrietzberg – but the margin was just too much.
The next opportunity to see the Lady Jackets at home will be April 1 as they host Quitman.
