Mineola fireworks display, symphony Sunday night

Fourth of July fireworks return to Mineola after being canceled a year ago during the pandemic.

The city of Mineola will host the event Sunday at the Mineola Civic Center, 1150 N. Newsom.

A professional fireworks show highlights the evening around 9 p.m., with the aid of the Mineola Volunteer Fire Dept.

Expect a few additional displays to make up for last year’s cancellation.

The Lake Country Symphonic Band performs patriotic tunes at 8 p.m.

Mineola Chamber of Commerce will man the concession stand for hot dogs, chips and drinks for $5 per person from 5-8 p.m.

The civic center’s splash pad opens at 1 p.m. until 8.

Sponsors include the city, Mineola Kiwanis Club, Wood County Monitor, Mineola Civic Center, Mineola Pilot Club, Buck and Susie McGee, Crenshaw Carwash  and an anonymous donor.

Dairy Queen is assisting the chamber with concessions.
