Mineola HS band best in state again
When it’s not winning state marching championships, the Mineola High School Sound of the Swarm is winning the Outstanding Performance Series from the Association of Texas Small School Bands.
The band was recently awarded first place in both the Class 3A marching and Class 3A concert series, as well as a third place also in the concert series.
The series is judged based on recordings.
The marching piece played by the band was “The Chimes of Liberty,” while the winning concert piece was “The Spirit of Cashel.” The band’s second entry, “Spark of Creation,” was awarded third.
The band is the three-time state marching champion as well as previous OPS winner.
