Mineola HS pair taking football talents to collegiate level
The common theme last week at the college athletics signing ceremony of Mineola seniors Colton McMahon and Noah Turner was passion.
Before signing of the letters of intent, Coach Aaron Slider spoke briefly of the tremendous investment of time and energy that both the young men put into their athletic careers.
He also complimented their parents – Brittany and Adam McMahon, and Angelyn and Shelby Turner – for nurturing such fine young men. Slider added, “Thank you for being a part of our athletic program.”
Colton McMahon signed to attend Southern Nazarene University in Bethany, Okla. Noah Turner signed to attend Nelson University in Waxahachie. The Crimson Storm of Southern Nazarene compete in the Great American Conference while the Lions of Nelson University are part of the Sooner Athletic Conference.
Both intend on playing football for their new schools. McMahon intends on playing receiver for the Crimson Storm, while Turner will be performing kicking duties for the Lions of Nelson.
The young men shared similar outlooks on the selection of universities, crediting hard work and God’s blessings as having placed them in the position to continue to perform athletically.
A significant number of extended family joined a crowd of teammates in wishing the two well.
