Mineola Kiwanis Club leaving flags up
The Kiwanis Club of Mineola has announced that it is testing a new brand of American flags.
The flags will be left out from the time they were posted at businesses and residences in and around Mineola just before Memorial Day through the Fourth of July holiday.
Flags are sometimes left up for multiple occasions, such as Labor Day the first Monday in September followed by Patriots Day on Sept. 11.
The lengthy period will allow the club to assess the flags’ durability.
During a placement earlier in the year, severals flags suffered wind damage and had to be replaced.
To have a flag placed for holidays including President’s Day, Memorial Day, Flag Day, July 4th, Labor Day/Patriot’s Day and Veterans’ Day, mail a check for $36 to Mineola Kiwanis Club, PO Box 326, Mineola TX 75773.
Proceeds from the flags help the club fund numerous civic projects, including Mineola and Alba-Golden ISD service leadership programs, K-Kids, Terrific Kids, Builders Club, Key Club, CKI, high school scholarships, back to school supplies, Children’s Miracle Network, Northeast Texas Child Advocacy center and more.
The club meets at noon on Tuesdays at the Mineola Civic Center.
