Mineola Library Notes
Happy New Year! Need some help following through with those resolutions? Check out our non-fiction collection for books on health, fitness and organization to name a few.
We had a fantastic 2024. Reflecting on this past year, we did a lot. We offered 221 programs that were attended by 3,392 individuals. Our programs were for children, teens and adults. These programs included in-house programming as well as outreach.
We circulated 27,420 items including books, movies and audio books. Patrons downloaded 475 items from our eBook platforms. We also have four newspapers and several magazines for people to enjoy while in the library.
The value of the library services for 2024 is estimated to be $543,757. That’s money that was saved by the public by borrowing items from the library, attending programs and using our computers and WiFi. Wow.
We participated in several fundraisers. Our thanks go to City National Bank for hosting bake sales, to the Select Theater for a couple of movie night collaborations and our patrons who purchased from our pop-up book sales.
What’s in store for 2025? Continued programs such as Toddler Story Time on Tuesday mornings at 9 a.m., Preschool Story Time on Wednesday mornings at 10 a.m. and Home-school Heroes the first and third Friday mornings at 10 a.m. We will continue to participate in two book clubs: East Texas Library Friends and East Texas Perfictionists. We hope to continue our partnership with Lone Star Legal Aid on the first Tuesday of the month at 1 p.m., but that will depend on participation from our patrons.
Do you have an idea for a program? Let us know. Help us with particulars such as who the program is for, best day of the week, the best time of the day and what the program might look like. If we can incorporate it into our programming, we will.
Remember the Mineola Memorial Library is a 501(c)3, non-profit and your donations may be tax-deductible. Many thanks to Roy Devlin, Janice Wisner and Anne Alotto for their generous donations. We received a memorial for Errol Barber.
