Happy February. Didn’t January fly by quickly?

February brings us lots of things to celebrate and recognize. We just learned of Punxsutawny Phil’s forecast. Were you happy with his prognostication?

Upcoming we have Valentine’s Day, and we have a number of books about love and romance and yummy things to bake.

Writing of love,  February is Library Lovers Month. Look for the display in the library where you can anonymously (or publicly) tell us your favorite book and favorite part of the library.

President’s Day is just around the corner, and since Abraham Lincoln and George Washington have birthdays in February, we have several books on these two presidents as well as many others.

February is also Black History Month, a time to recognize and celebrate African Americans and their rich history and accomplishments. We have a number of books throughout the library recognizing people and events as well as African-American authors.

Feb. 8 at 2 p.m. will see the East Texas Library Friend’s Book Club meet to discuss Kristin Hannah’s “The Women” and then select the next three books to read. Feb. 27 at 6:30 p.m. will have the East Texas Perfictionist Book Club meeting to discuss their book by Charles Martin called “The Water Keeper.” Feel free to join either or both book clubs to discuss these books and other selections.

As always, we have Toddler Story Time on Tuesdays at 9 a.m. for the 18-month to 3-year-old crowd with their parent/caregiver. They learn to play together, make friends, hear a story and participate in an activity.

Wednesdays at 10 a.m. are for preschoolers ages 3-5 and their parent/caregiver hearing stories and completing something related to the stories. Home-school Heroes meets the first and third Fridays of the month at 10 a.m. (Feb. 7 and 21), and families get to meet other home-school families and complete an activity together.
