The Mineola Memorial Library will be closed Nov. 17 to Nov. 28. We are getting an opportunity to finish putting in new flooring at the library. We had the entry completed and now we are getting the rest of the library finished. We may need to stay closed a little bit longer depending on how quickly the process goes. Watch Facebook for updates on re-opening. Due dates will be adjusted. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we undertake this project.
We continue to offer Grab and Go activities for children and families to complete together. When weather permits, they are on the bench under the tree. If there is rain in the forecast, they are on the bench on the porch. They go out on Wednesday and there are limited quantities.
East Texas Library Friends are reading “Long, Bright River” by Liz Moore. It is about family in Philadelphia dealing with the opioid crisis as it impacts their life. It is a bit of a thriller in that there are some twists to the story. They will be meeting to discuss this book in the library on Saturday, Dec. 12 at 2 p.m.
Mocha Girls Read Book Club is reading “Hearts Unbroken” by Cynthia Letitch Smith. This is a young adult novel about a girl who is a senior in high school. She dumps her boyfriend over email because of his disrespectful attitude toward Native Americans. Then there’s the school play that is not cast in what the community sees as the traditional way and things heat up. This book club is found online at Mocha Girls Read.
Please, remember when you visit the library to wear a mask, keep your visit to one hour or less, wash your hands or use hand sanitizer, and stay home if you are not feeling well. Call us and we can adjust your due date.
The library has received donations from Linda Wray, James Carter and ProPath. The library is a 501(c)3, non-profit. Donations are not only appreciated, they are tax-deductible.
