Mineola Memorial Library Notes

We’ve had a very busy month. The Eagle Scout Project began, we participated in three fundraisers for the library, and we had a successful book sale. This is all on top of providing materials for check-out and computer access for patrons and the grab and go’s. We enjoy doing all of these things.

What’s next on the agenda? The Friends of the Mineola Memorial Library will have a meeting on Thursday, May 6 at 1 p.m. at our annex location, 1721 N. Pacific (just south of BTH Bank). The meeting will be held outdoors, weather permitting. If the weather does not cooperate, it will move inside where masks are encouraged and social distancing can still be practiced. This meeting will feature guest speaker Linda Brendle. Linda is a local, multi-genre Christian author. She has published several books, and after her talk, books will be available for purchase.

Weather permitting, there will be a book sale in May at the annex. More details to follow on this event.

Summer reading programs are fast approaching. This year’s theme is “Tails and Tales.” We will once again track reading, but the tracking will change. We will not have programs at the library but will be taking the bookmobile into the community (for visibility) and hosting activities at various locations throughout Mineola. Stay tuned for details. We will continue to offer grab and go’s at the library throughout the summer.

Crochet has resumed on the first Saturday of the month, May 1, at 10 a.m. This is a fun time to work on crochet or other craft projects in the company of friends. Social distancing is encouraged as is wearing of a mask and please, do not attend if you are not feeling well.

American Girls Historical Reading Club will meet on Saturday, May 8 at 10 a.m. Girls age 7 and older with an adult may attend. Registration is required in order to prepare materials for the program. Both child and adult attend together and participate in games, crafts, and snacks together. Call the library to reserve a spot 903-569-2767.

The Mineola Memorial Library is a 501(c)3, non-profit and your donations may be tax deductible.
