Can you believe school is about to start? Seems like summer just got here.

A big shout out and thank you to the staff and volunteers, especially during the last week of July when I went on vacation. They did a wonderful job.

We had a great summer reading program, and now we are taking a rest during August to catch our breath and plan our school year programs. If you have an idea, please, stop by the library and let us know. We cannot do everything, but we would love to know what is of interest to our community.

East Texas Library Friends book club is reading “Cold Sassy Tree” by Olive Ann Burns. They will meet on Saturday, Sept. 17 at 2 p.m. in the Mineola Memorial Library to discuss this book.

American Girls Historical Reading Club is wrapping up meeting all the girls in the series. In September, the club will learn what school was like during each of the eras of the girls. This group is for moms and daughters. Daughters need to be at least seven years of age, and their adult needs to participate with them during the program. Register for the September meeting by Sept. 8. The meeting is scheduled Saturday, Sept. 10 at 10 a.m. Call the library for more information or to register to participate, 903-569-2767.

We still offer curbside service. That came about because of COVID, and we are keeping it. Cannot get out of the car for whatever reason? Too hot outside? Too cold? Too wet? Just call us when you get to the library, let us know where you are parked and what you are driving, then we’ll be right out to pick up your returns and deliver items you may have requested via earlier phone call or on-line reservation.

Remember, the Mineola Memorial Library is a 501(c)3, non-profit ,and your donation may be tax-deductible. The library received a donation toward computer upgrades from FNBETX.
