Before we get into upcoming events, the Mineola Memorial Library would like to thank Mr. Mike for putting us in touch with Mr. Ken who has a crew with a bucket truck. The bucket crew descended like ninjas and restrung our flag pole, followed by Mr. Scotty checking Mz. Mary’s knots and improving them so Old Glory could resume her place at the top of the flag pole. We thank all of them for helping us with this effort. To them it may seem like a little thing, but to us it is a big deal.

October is quickly coming to an end. If you haven’t gotten a chance to stop by the library, please come visit and vote for your favorite decorated pumpkin. If you absolutely cannot stop by, visit our Facebook page and vote for your favorite there. Staff is going for bragging rights. We’ll post the results on Oct. 29.

The library will participate in the downtown Trick or Treat event on Monday, Oct. 31. We will be located in front of the Select Theater.

Coming up in November are our First Tuesday events on Nov. 1. We will have Book It Crafts at 2 p.m. creating turkeys for a center piece. This craft is geared toward adults, but a family could work together on this craft. Next is the First Tuesday After School Club at 4 p.m. for children K to 12th grade and will have a craft.

We continue to have fun with Toddler Story Time on Tuesdays at 9 a.m. and the pre-schoolers on Wednesdays at 10 a.m. Come bring your little one and join the fun.

American Girls Historical Reading Club will meet on Saturday, Nov. 12 at 10 a.m. Girls age seven and older must register along with their mom by Thursday, Nov. 10 by calling the library at 903-569-2767. This month the girls will learn about Caroline’s education in 1812.

The Friends of the Library will meet at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 10. Join them to learn what their plans are for the rest of the year and to decide if you would like to participate in the Book Event on Saturday, Nov. 19 raising funds for the library through donation for books.

The library will be closed for Thanksgiving on Thursday, Nov. 24.

Remember, the Mineola Memorial Library is a 501(c)3, non-profit and your donation may be tax-deductible.
