Mineola Middle School teams run at Van

The Mineola Middle School boys and girls competed at the Van Invitational. track meet March 2. Other schools attending were Van, Malakoff and Athens.

The Mineola 7th grade boys and girls won the meet, the 8th grade girls came in 2nd and the 8th grade boys came in a very competitive 3rd.

Mineola Middle School teams run at Van

The Mineola Middle School boys and girls competed at the Van Invitational. track meet March 2. Other schools attending were Van, Malakoff and Athens.

The Mineola 7th grade boys and girls won the meet, the 8th grade girls came in 2nd and the 8th grade boys came in a very competitive 3rd.

Team Totals

7th grade girls: Mineola 195, Malakoff 139; Athens 122, and Van 98

7th grade boys: Mineola 151, Athens 150, Van 137, Malakoff 102

8th grade girls: Malakoff 204, Mineola 154, Athens 128, Van 72

8th grade boys: Van 174, Malakoff 157, Mineola 137, Athens 96

7th grade girls

Gold medals were won in the 4x100 relay and the 4x400 relay; the 4x100 team runners are Jaylee Nevarez, Raylie Peebles, Deisree Gandy and Clara Morrow. The 4x400 team is Peebles, Marlow, Emmily Vega and Saoirse Ray.

The 4x200 relay team of Nevrarez, Peebles, Marlow, and Vega came in 2nd by .6 of a second.

Pole vault was a Mineola sweep with Jaylee Nevarez, Addyson Blackwell and Ariel Harshman.

Long jump was a sweep as well with Raylie Peebles, Saoirse Ray and Clara Marlow.

Peebles also was 3rd in the high jump.

Stephanie Rojas won the triple jump.

Winning the 800 meter run was Yareli Hernandez.

Destinee Gandy got 2nd in the 100 hurdles.

Saoirse Ray placed 3rd in the 400M run.

Caroline Castleberry was 2nd in the 300 hurdles.

Destinee Gandy was 3rd in the 200M dash.

Yareli Hernandez won  the 1600M run.

7th grade boys

The relay team of Ainsley Steward, Brayan Torres, Chance Williams and Matthew Ballew were 3rd in the 4x400M relay.

In shot put Juan Cervantes won and Juan Villanueva was 2nd.

Long jump had Matthew Ballew placing 3rd.

Ainsley Steward was 2nd in the triple jump.

High jump had Zane Strange in 3rd.

Pole vault was a sweep for the Jackets with Chance Williams, Matthew Ballew and Zane Strange.

Andrew Martinez placed 2nd in the 2400M run.

Kaleb Silverio won the 800M and 400M runs.

Daniel Candelario won the 110M Hurdles and the 300M hurdles.

8th grade girls

The three relay teams had two wins and a 2nd. The 2nd came in the 4x100 relay with Bailee Sewell, Carmen Carrasco, Olivia Hughes and Paris Spignor .07 seconds behind the lead. This group bounced back to win the 4x200, and the other first in the 4x400 with Hughes, Carrasco, Briana Palacios and Maddison McQuilliams.

Another clean sweep of the pole vault for Mineola with Palacios, Gracie Lindley and Mycah Morman.

Morman also was 2nd in the 300M hurdles

Myah Joynor placed 2nd in shot and 3rd in triple jump.

Bailee Sewell was 2nd in the high jump.

The 800M run was won by Lily Windle’s while Palacios was 2nd.

8th grade boys

The three relays won big points for the team.  Calem Redding, Xzavien Lipscomb, Tommy Trent and Oscar Valle were 2nd the 4x200 and the 4x400 and 3rd in the 4x100.

Redding also was 2nd in the triple jump and 3rd in the long jump.

Pole vault was dominated again by Mineola as Ethan Dunham won, Eddie Roman was 2nd and Josh Vigueras 3rd.

Vigueras also took 3rd in the 2400M run, 2nd in the 1600M run and 3rd in the 800M run.

Ethan Dobbs won the 110M hurdles and placed 3rd in the 300M hurdles.
