Mineola school board considers future projects
Mineola school trustees set their sights on the next improvement project for the district during last week’s board training session.
Potential projects include upgrades to the automotive technology facilities, as well as long-range plans for the elementary campus.
The district has undesignated funds of $2,276,968 that could be dedicated to a future project.
The current project is expansion of the band hall and renovations to the existing band hall and adjacent fine arts area, along with improvements to adjacent parking areas.
Prior to kicking off the training, the board approved asking the Texas Education Agency for waivers for remote instructions days due to bad weather Feb. 18 and 19 and adjusted the proposed 2021-22 school calendar to align spring break with Tyler Junior College and making Presidents Day Feb. 21 an instruction day.
Superintendent Cody Mize said, “Our board training focused on developing a new Vision Statement, Mission Statement, and a review of the Core Values in the District. We also reviewed a detailed list of goals and objectives that were given to me as feedback from the board members during my annual evaluation on which direction they would like to explore in the district in regards to academic programs, facility needs, etc.”
